Staffing

We’re saying goodbye to a few people (as always at this time of the year) and welcoming a new member of staff too.

Caroline Walsh, who has worked at a Teaching Assistant in our Foundation Stage since 2004, is leaving at the end of this term. She has a job working with older Primary aged children in a school much closer to her home. We will all miss Caroline, not least for her calm professionalism and quiet dedication to the children.

Renee Fraser, who has covered our Year 5 class whilst Miss Glover was undergoing hospital treatment is returning to Australia and her last day at school is this Wednesday. We’re very grateful to Miss Fraser, who stepped in at a difficult time for us and has done a really good job with Year 5.

Mrs Sheppard is also leaving at the end of this year. She has worked at St Mary’s for ten years and will be sorely missed. She came to us as a part-time support teacher and Reading Recovery teacher, became our Key Stage 1 coordinator and Year 1 class teacher and then added ‘Acting Deputy Headteacher’ to her portfolio! A role she fulfilled with exemplary professionalism for over two years. She was also a School Governor for three years.

Mrs Sheppard has obtained a part-time job as a Reception Class teacher near where she lives. She leaves with all our best wishes and also my personal gratitude for her exemplary professionalism and support of the school over many years.

As well as the goodbyes, we also have one ‘welcome.’ Lilli Landau was appointed last week to teach our Year 5 class next year. She’s in school all of this week, and most of next, finding out how we do things and getting to know the children. We’re all looking forward to working with her from September.
